Donated to the WFC by the Weekapaug Fire District in 2019, the Weekapaug Preserve is comprised of 22 acres of salt marsh, wet woodland, and dense coastal shrubland along Weekapaug Road.  The Preserve is a picturesque vista along the entrance to Weekapaug and an important habitat to a profusion of avian species, including Belted Kingfisher, Blue Jay, Gray Catbird, Great Egret, Greater Yellowlegs, American Green Heron, House Wren, Northern Harrier, Red-winged Blackbird, Saltmarsh Sparrow, Snowy Egret, Song Sparrow and Willet, among others. White-tailed Deer are found in the woodland area while ribbed Mussels and Black Duck can be observed in the ponded areas.
