Gavitt Property

This 4-acre marsh property bordering Quonochontaug Pond in Charlestown supports a variety of birds and marine life. It is likely a nesting site for Saltmarsh sparrow and Willet. Salt marsh sparrows are considered a high conservation priority since they nest exclusively in the high marsh that is subject to flooding. Additionally, a variety of wading birds including great and snowy egret and shorebirds can be observed on the property. Finfish species can be found in the salt marsh pools and ditches including Atlantic silverside.
